This was the simple and moving scene in York Minster today (Wednesday, 11 November).
As people across the country fell silent at the 11th hour of the 11th day, so too did clergy at the Minster.
Covid-19 restrictions forced much of the public to observe the traditional two-minute silence at 11am from their homes this year.
Veterans took to their own doorsteps or stood outside at local memorials to mark the national moment of silence.
