These pictures show why the railway between York and Harrogate came to a halt this morning.
A van careered through the level crossing at Knaresborough and ended up on the tracks.
It meant that no trains could get through either way – on a morning when thousands were travelling to the Great Yorkshire Show.
The van also hit the signal box in the crash, which happened at 6.30am. The track reopened at 11am.
Fortunately no one was hurt in the incident. According to the van driver, it happened after his dog chewed through the handbrake cable.

The unnamed man told the BBC that he had got out of the vehicle, leaving his French bulldog Reggie inside.
Then he watched as it rolled down Kirkgate and onto the tracks.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Shortly after 6.30am today, a vehicle crashed through the level crossing barrier at Knaresborough station, hitting the signal box.
“We supported emergency services at the scene, and the vehicle was removed by 8.30am.
“Normal service was able to resume from about 11am thanks to swift repairs which took place this morning at Knaresborough station.

“It was confirmed that there was no damage to the track itself and temporary fencing was erected to get passengers on the move as soon as possible.
“Network Rail teams will address the remaining damage later, at a time which will cause the least disruption to services.
“The incident caused nine services to be fully cancelled, 14 partially cancelled and 11 delayed.”
