They were hot to go – and go they did.
Hundreds of birds were sold today at the Christmas Poultry Sale at York Auction Centre in Murton.
A few days go, the centre had confirmed they had 210 turkeys, 210 chickens, ten geese and ten ducks ready to go under the hammer.
But more entries were expected.
The sale kicked off at 10.30am in the Ebor Sale Ring – and PA photographer Danny Lawson was there to capture these pictures of a festive farming tradition.
