Well, the weather just keeps on giving…
So far we’ve had storms, torrential rain, floods – and now snow.
York woke to the first snowfall of 2020 this morning.
Where it settled it wasn’t much more than an inch deep. But the snow, winds and slushy road conditions made it a difficult journey in to work for many.
We are not aware of any major disruption on the roads so far, but bus operators are warning of slower services.
City of York Council gritters were on the roads for a second run this morning from 7.30am. The bar walls are also shut due to slippery conditions.
The snow was turning to rain by 8am. This will add to flooding worries, but the latest forecast says the Ouse is due to peak today at 11am at 4.61m – which will not breach the city centre defences.
