Thousands of people headed out on the York Ice Trail today (Saturday).
There are more than 30 ice sculptures to find dotted across the city, all on the theme ‘Origins’.
You’ll find trains, bells, telescopes and York Minster all rendered beautifully in transluscent ice.

Organised by Make It York, the trail’s sparkling statues are crafted by ice sculpture specialists Icebox.
It runs today and tomorrow (Sunday) – come and say hello at the YorkMix bus on Parliament Street. Take part in our competition and you could win £1,000!
There several sculptures to see at Middletons Hotel on Skeldergate, along with face painting and more.
Sarah Loftus, managing director of Make It York, said: “It’s a really good event. We know that 40,000 people come over the weekend.
“It’s really family friendly, which is what we want. We are the biggest ice trail in the UK, and we’re going to get better and better.”
