Stephen Mulhern has been popping up all over York filming for his new game show.

Stephen is the host of In For A Penny. Made famous as a segment on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, the show sees Stephen challenge members of the British public to turn their pennies into pounds.

He picks people at random to take part in games such as Pump It Up, Mum’s The Word and In For A Penny itself.

On Tuesday he was filming at Clifton Moor.

Today (Wednesday 14 August) he popped up on Shambles – and later in Pets At Home at Foss Islands.

It was there that Arron Rose and his girlfriend met the star.

Arron told YorkMix:

• Me and Aly were shopping and overheard someone mentioning it, so we went to check it out for ourselves – then I ended up being asked to take part.

  I took part in one of the games, but my Aly declined the invite. I got paired with another guy that was out shopping on his own.
  

He got chatting to Stephen who mentioned Arron’s tattoos and asked how much they all cost.

Arron added: “Stephen’s a very nice guy, very chatty and taller than he looks on TV. He even winked at my partner, so I must be doing something right.”

He said he would definitely be tuning in to watch the show. “It’s going to be very funny for my friends and family to be watching it too.”
