Angela Rayner, deputy leader of the Labour Party, brought the national campaign to York this afternoon (Sunday 16 June).
Ahead of the BBC Question Time leaders debate, being held in the city this Thursday (20 June), the battle bus arrived to support the Labour candidate for York Outer.
Luke Charters is bidding to overturn the current Conservative majority nearly 10k in the York constituency.
Local labour supporters were joined by York Inner Labour MP Rachael Maskell, Labour Council Leader Claire Douglas and York and North Yorkshire Mayor David Skaith.
Rayner delivered a warm, relaxed speach outlining some of the the changes Labour are looking to make if they win the general election.
To cheers and a round of applause, she began by showing off her England shirt, ahead of their opening Euros football match tonight.
She then thanked local grassroots supporters for their work canvassing in and around the city.
Making a particular point about how she felt the government had let young people down, Rayner highlighted the housing crisis and job insecurity.
Afterwards, she spoke to members of the public and posed for photographs.
