Police are investigating after a person’s belongings were set on fire in York.
Firefighters were called out at 8.04pm to Scarcroft Road in the city last night (Sunday).
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service report said: “A crew from York responded to a fire in the open which turned out to be a person’s belongings set on fire.
“Crews used one bucket of water to extinguish the fire and left the incident with the police.”
It was one of two arson attacks in York last night.
Acomb firefighters responded to a fire in the open on Minchin Close, off Water Lane, at 6.43pm.
They found 20 metres of undergrowth on fire. A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews extinguished the fire using two backpack sprayers. The cause was believed to be deliberate.”
