Part of a York play park is closed for safety reasons, after planned repairs were delayed due to a timber shortage.
The large wooden climbing equipment on Acomb Green has been fenced off, due to damage to some of the beams.
The work had been due to take place, but has now been put back.
A council notice at the park says: “Repairs had been arranged but have been delayed due to a shortage of suitable timber parts. We have been advised that it is likely to be March before the repairs are carried out.”
The rest of the play park remains open.
Ben Graham, head of environmental services at City of York Council, told YorkMix: “Recently, we have carried out some minor repairs to the site.
“After inspecting the equipment, it was noted that some timbers needed to be replaced. While we wait for supplies to complete this work, some areas have been fenced off as a precautionary measure.
“The contractors carrying out the work have experienced a supply issue with their timber and therefore work is running slightly behind the initial schedule. We have erected signs on the site to explain what is going on.”
