** 11am update: Woman dies in three-car crash in North Yorkshire – Driver arrested **
There was a serious accident involving several vehicles on the A1(M) in North Yorkshire this morning – and a second incident is causing problems on the same road.
Both incidents have now been cleared and traffic is moving freely.
Reports of the first collision came in at just before 2:30am on the southbound carriageway just past Leeming Bar.
One car overturned and came to rest in a field.

The road was closed between Junction 51 (Bedale/Leeming Bar) and Junction 50 (Ripon/Thirsk) in the southbound direction.
Emergency services are at the scene and the road is expected to remain closed for several hours.
National Highways said the carriageway closure “is causing delays of 40 mins above normal journey time for this time of day.
“There is approximately four miles of congestion on approach. Please allow plenty of extra time for your journey if you are travelling in the area.”
Diversions were put in place.
The second accident was on the A1 (M) Northbound between junction 44 (York and Tadcaster) and junction 45 A659 Wattlesyke (Boston Spa).
It was reported at 6.18am, causing delays of at least 22 minutes at its peak.
Anyone who witnessed the first collision or who was driving along that stretch of road at around the time of the collision is asked to contact police.
Dial 101, press 1 and pass information to the Force Control Room, quoting reference number NYP-18102021-0020.
