Single parking space goes on sale in York for £20,000

Everyone knows it’s not cheap to park in York.

And after the last City of York Council budget, it’s going to get even more expensive – council-run car parks will go up from £18 to £20 for the day.

So if you were in need of a parking space, what would you be prepared to pay for it?

How about £20,000? That’s the price for a single York parking space that’s just gone up for sale.

It is found on Bootham Row, close to BBC Radio York and opposite the public car park, where charges begin at £3.10 for one hour’s parking.

The parking space for sale is shaded on two sides by a brick wall. It comes with its own protective bollard, which the owner can unlock and lay flat whenever they use the bay.

Marketed by Savills, the space is next to the modern Bootham Place flats, and according to the estate agent the apartment is “also available separately”.

The tenure is leasehold – the length of the lease is to be confirmed. And there’s a service charge of £360 a year.
