Issued by City of York Council
Changes to York’s Park & Ride concessionary bus pass fares will take affect this Sunday 28 April.
Anyone who is entitled to discounted travel on the York Park & Ride service will see an increase of 10p (from 60p to 70p) when boarding at any Park & Ride site.
York’s Park & Ride fares still remain some of the lowest in the country and the city’s five Park & Rides carry over four-million passenger journeys every year.
The fares increase was agreed in February’s budget council meeting and will enable the council and First to continue to deliver a high quality Park & Ride service.
Over the past 12 months, improvement works carried out by City of York Council have included modernising the CCTV equipment at Monks Cross Park & Ride and significant repairs to the car park road surface at Grimston Bar.
Cllr Dave Merrett, Cabinet Member for Transport, Planning and Sustainability, said: “The council has had to make some difficult decisions to make in its budget, but the Park & Ride service still represents excellent value for money and is far cheaper than city centre alternatives.”
