Pantomime season is back – oh yes it is!
York Theatre Royal are bringing the All New Adventures of Peter Pan to the stage this Christmas, co-produced with Evolution Productions.
The pantomime promises to be a ‘fun-packed swashbuckling family adventure’ – and stars CBeebies’ very own Maddie Moate as Tinkerbell.
Maddie is a BAFTA award-winning television presenter of the BBC CBeebies series Do You Know?, and has also starred in the CBeebies’ Proms Live at the Albert Hall, multiple CBeebies’ Christmas Shows and has presented the CBeebies’ Ballet.
Also joining the cast is returning star Faye Campbell as Elizabeth Darling. Faye starred as the titular Cinderella in last year’s production – which was nominated as Best Panto at the British Pantomime Awards.
Also returning are Paul Hawkyard, as Captain Hook, and Robin Simpson, as Mrs Smee.
The duo were nominated for Best Ugly Sisters at the British Pantomime Awards for their performance as Manky and Mardy in last year’s Cinderella.
Social media sensation Jonny Weldon is joining the cast in the role of Starkey. A star of both stage and screen, his credits include 101 Dalmatians (Regents Park Open Air Theatre) and House of The Dragon (HBO) – as well as being known for his hilarious viral videos.

YorkMix Radio presenter Ben Fry chatted with Maddie Moate to find out more about this year’s panto. Watch the above video to find out who Maddie’s favourite Peter is and which other character she would play in the show if she could.
“I just think the story of Peter Pan is perfect for Christmas,” said Maddie.
“You have magic, you’re going to have lots of songs and lots of silliness, you have goodies and baddies.
“It’s a brilliant magical show for Christmas, so I would definitely say come along and bring the kids!”
All New Adventures of Peter Pan runs at York Theatre Royal from Friday 2 December 2022 to Monday 2 January 2023.
Tickets start from £15 and are available via the York Theatre Royal website.
