Stars of York’s foodie sector lined up today for the legendary city pancake race.
Bedern Hall director Roger Lee organised the event and Minster FM’s Cat Soave fired the starting gun (ie shouted ‘go’). Then the finely honed athletes set off like so many batter-wielding Usain Bolts.
Armed only with a frying pan they hurtled past the 14th century hall on Bartle Garth desperate for the glory of victory.
There were some thrilling moments as they went into the hairpin bend, flipping like nobody’s business. Sadly one or two pancakes fell to the ground in the ruckus.
In the end though it was Rafi’s Spicebox who claimed victory. Then everyone went inside for a post-race post-mortem, and a cuppa.
Same time next year?
