The new B&M store in York city centre has announced its opening date.
A branch of the discount retailer is moving into Foss Islands Retail Park – and will open its doors for the first time at 9am on Friday, September 14.
Store bosses described the move as a “welcome boost to the local economy and vote of confidence in York’s retail sector”.
The new B&M will complement the existing store at Clifton Moor, and will create 50 jobs.
The former Homebase is undergoing a full internal and external makeover to turn it into a B&M outlet. Homebase closed on July 4 after the chain suffered disappointing results.
Large range
Customers at the new B&M store can expect to find a wide variety of branded products including fresh and frozen food, toys, a large pet range, health & beauty and homewares.
It is also applying for an alcohol licence, to enable it to sell alcohol throughout its opening times from 7am to 10pm daily.
A spokesperson from B&M said:
-
We’re feeling really positive about the creation of even more jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.
We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome our new customers through the door in a September.
Job roles are advertised on the B&M careers website and range from sales assistant to floor managers and cleaners.
