Olive, 106, becomes the oldest person to be vaccinated at York surgery

13 Jan, 2021 by YorkMix

Olive, 106, gets the vaccine at Haxby surgery

Olive, aged 106, is believed to be the oldest person in York so far to be given the Covid vaccinate.

She was given the injection yesterday at Haxby surgery.

A spokeswoman for the Haxby Group, which operates seven GP surgeries in York and Hull, said: “She’s the oldest person we have vaccinated at the surgery and was so grateful to receive her jab today from our nurse Laura.

“We know that there are still more patients in the priority groups who haven’t yet received their vaccination.

“In the next few weeks more vaccine will become available and we will work very hard to make sure everyone who needs it gets vaccinated.”

She urged people to be patient and wait to be invited. “You will be contacted by your surgery or the NHS.”

More information is available on the group’s website.

Earlier this week it was revealed that more than 10,000 people in York had been given the vaccine by Saturday.
