Folk will soon be able to fly across North Yorkshire – thanks to a spell-binding new attraction opening on York’s famous Shambles.
The Potions Academy will officially open on Monday (2 September) providing more magical experiences for wizards and witches of all ages.
Part of the award-winning Potions Cauldron Group, the academy will include Broom School – a unique broom flying video experience.
This enables wizards and witches to fly from Goathland across North Yorkshire, swerving key landmarks such as Whitby Abbey and Castle Howard, while dodging a dragon.
Then you’ll head back over York and Shambles. And at the end of your journey you get a witches brew potion and souvenir video to take away.
As well as Broom School, visitors will take part in Potions Class.
This new family experience will be a 30-minute interactive alchemy class showcasing the art of potion making whilst sampling some magical potions.
The attraction is located on the famous Shambles, but accessed via Shambles Market in the old Sew N’ Sews unit.
Initially open at weekends and holidays, the attraction is set to create magical memories. The attraction has seen the company employ actors for the first time as well as creating six more jobs.
Free flights
To mark the official opening if you turn up on Monday 2 September and quote ‘Fly me to the Shambles’ you will get the experience the Broom School for free, usually costing £9.99. And there is no need to prebook!
The academy will be open from 11am to 4pm on Monday.
The new attraction continues the Potions Cauldron Group’s expansion. The company celebrates six magical years in October and already has ‘The Hole In Wand’ mini golf attractions in York, Chester and Blackpool, with Dalton Park opening next month.
There are also retail outlets under ‘The Potions Cauldron’ brand in both York and Edinburgh.
