Well, this makes a change – news of a Boots store set to open in York.
We have reported a raft of closures by the retail giant in the city in recent months.
That included the closure of the Boots Opticians on the corner of Parliament Street in January.
Now a branch of Boots Opticians is set to open in Coney Street.
An application has gone in to City of York Council to turn the former Paperchase store into a Boots Opticians.
Under the plans, the brand’s distinctive blue signage would go up on number 8 Coney Street.

Paperchase closed after the stationery chain went into administration in January 2023.
York has seen a series of Boots branch closures in recent months. The Clifton branch shut on February, and the one on East Parade, Heworth, went in March.
The one in the Coppergate Centre went in August 2020, the Kings Square shop disappeared in October.
Meanwhile, the flagship city centre store on Coney Street is set to be mostly demolished under plans to remodel the riverside thoroughfare.
Boots announced last June a plan to shut 300 of its stores across Britain over the next year.
A Boots spokeswoman said at the time: “Evolving the store estate in this way allows Boots to concentrate its team members where they are needed and focus investment more acutely in individual stores with the ambition of consistently delivering an excellent and reliable service in a fresh and up-to-date environment.”
