Skateboarding enthusiasts listen up – as a new skate-centric festival is coming to Malton this summer.
The free one-day event will feature professional riders from around the UK, competitions, live music from local artists, street art demonstrations, free skate lessons, artisan stalls, and food and drink.
Skatefest 2024 will take place at Norton & Malton Skatepark on Saturday 27 July from 11am.
Skatefest is organised by Ryan Swain, founder of the Ryedale Skate School, with support from Norton and Malton town councils, Mayor of Norton Di Keal and Cllr Martin Brampton, and help from the skatepark committee.
Ryan will be doing taster sessions with Ryedale Skate School for free on the day to try and encourage new skaters to use the facilities safely.
Ryan said, “This is going to be absolutely fantastic for our local community and has been something the area has needed for a long-time to bind local youth, action sports enthusiasts and music lovers together.
“It’s free and everybody is welcome so please come and join us at Skatefest for an epic day filled with thrilling skateboarding, live music from amazing bands, vibrant street art demonstrations and delicious food and drink.”
