North Yorkshire restaurant win prestigious national award
The UK’s very best restaurants and hotels, who have earnt a prestigious AA Rosette Award for culinary excellence, have been announced – and one of them is in North Yorkshire!
Yorkshire Dales venue The Traddock, received three AA Rosettes – standing out for its selection and treatment of the highest quality ingredients and consistently excellent flavour combinations.
Established in 1956, the awards have long been a marker of leading restaurant and hotel venues across the UK, with the allocation of multi-rosettes determined by AA’s expert inspectors.
The Traddock, at Austwick near Settle, received this glowing assessment from an AA inspector: “Named after the historical ‘trading paddock’ where this charming building and stunning garden are located, The Traddock’s traditional dining room is split across two rooms.
“There is a homely feel to the place with flowery artwork on the grey-blue walls, the smaller room offering lovely views over the front of the property.
“The inventive modern British cooking has occasional Asian influences but the emphasis is very much on local ingredients, often foraged. Roasted duck liver with soft dashi onions might lead on to venison, beetroot and spruce. Apples cooked in kombu caramel is one way to round things off.”
In a post on Facebook, The Traddock said: “It’s an enormously proud moment for our head chef Ryan Shilton, the Reynolds family, and all of our amazing team to receive this prestigious award; it is a testament to the whole team’s hard work and commitment to delivering a quality experience. The last few years have not been straight forward, so this award is a huge boost for us all.”
