North Yorkshire Police handed out another 143 Covid penalties this week – Here’s who to

York and Scarborough were again the hotspots for Covid regulation breaches, new figures reveal.

North Yorkshire Police have issued 143 fixed penalty notices since 26 January.

A total of 45 were handed out in York – 34 to residents.

But Scarborough was top of the league, with 55 notices issued.

Of the 143 issued in the past week :

  • 86 were issued to local residents
  • 57 to visitors
  • 99 to men
  • 44 to women
  • 69 for being outside place of living
  • 10 for outdoor gathering
  • 62 for indoor gathering
  • 2 for obstruction/contravene.

Since the start of the latest lockdown, the police have issued 471 Covid penalties across the county.

That takes the total to 2,359 since March 2020.
