The North Yorkshire Under 15 Girls Hockey team have been crowned North East Champions.
The team is formed with girls from schools throughout North Yorkshire who came together to work as a formidable team.
Having beaten teams from Durham, Humberside and Northumberland in the Pool stages, the girls faced West Yorkshire in the semi-final and played well to record a 6-3 victory.
In the final against South Yorkshire at Leeds on Sunday (16 April), the team pressed the opposition and constructed a number of well worked goals.
Playing excellent hockey, the team ran out 8-1 winners and now go through to the North Finals at the end of May.
Coach Frankie Marsh said after the match that she was very impressed by the whole team’s performance and it would be unfair to comment on individuals.
She added: “However, the way the players have performed has resulted in several of the girls being nominated for trials for the England Hockey Talent Academy.
“We wish them success with this.”
