A shop on York’s busy Coney Street has closed because it is no longer viable.
The Cancer Research UK shop has been trading in the city for ten years.
It is due to close for the final time at 5pm tomorrow (Wednesday).
A Cancer Research UK spokesperson thanked the people of York for supporting their local charity shop, adding: “Sadly, it was no longer financially viable to keep the store open.”
Julia Stewardson, from Cancer Research UK, issued a heartfelt thanks.
She said: “We’ve had some of the most amazing staff and volunteers in the Coney Street shop and they have done a fantastic job over the past decade.
“I want to say a huge thank you to each and every one of them.
“We sincerely hope our customers will continue to support Cancer Research UK and our work towards a world where people can live longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
“All are very welcome to shop or donate goods at our shop in Knaresborough and our two shops in Harrogate.”
The closure comes only six weeks after a new charity shop appeared on Coney Street.
The Mind shop opened in a long-empty premises which were last occupied by the Office shoe shop on 14 February.
