Work is well underway on York’s new flagship Next store – and it will be open in plenty of time for Christmas.
The fashion retailer has revealed it is due to open this November.
As the huge refit of the long-empty former Topshop unit in the Coppergate Centre continues inside, large vinyls have now been added to the exterior of the store.
One of these states: “Next – New exciting store opening November 2025”.
YorkMix revealed in February that the chain was looking to move into Coppergate.

It is leaving its current city centre base as part of the plans to regenerate Coney Street. That building is to be remodelled under the Helmsley Group’s project.
The Coppergate Centre store, which runs from St Mary’s Square through to Piccadilly, with entrances at both sides, and three floors, is bigger than the current Coney Street store.
It is found between Fenwick and Primark.
City of York Council has granted Next planning permission to display two illuminated and one non-illuminated sign.
The store is also displaying a QR code link to its jobs site on the Coppergate store.

At the time of publication it is advertising nine jobs in York, five for the city centre store, one for the Designer Outlet and three for Vangarde.
YorkMix reported last month that Next is also planning to open a store at the Three Lakes Retail Park in Selby.
