A new shop is opening on Coney Street in York.
The Mind charity shop is now being fitted out on the street and will open on Wednesday 14 February.
It will open in a long-empty premises which were last occupied by the Office shoe shop.
Mind was advertising for an assistant manager, on £11.10 per hour for a 28 hour working week.
It is also asking for local volunteers to join the team.
Located at 9 Coney Street, the new shop will offer everything from vintage clothing to bric-a-brac.
Donations and sales made at the York Mind shop will go to help the one in four people who will experience a mental health problem every year.
York city centre already has a Mind shop, on Goodramgate.
Regional manager Teresa Utley says: “We are so excited to welcome the people of York to this new Mind shop.
“There are very easy ways that everybody can get involved such as donating quality items, volunteering in the shop, or simply shopping at the store. I urge locals to visit the shop or get in touch to find out more about how they can support us.”
Mind is asking people to support the new shop in three ways:
- Drop in and donate: The York Mind shop accepts clothing, accessories, furniture, books, records, DVDs, CDs, homeware, linens and children’s games and toys. To find out more, go here
- Lend a hand: Volunteering doesn’t need to be a big time-consuming commitment – even just an hour a week could make a huge difference. To find out more, go here
- Pick up a bargain: Pop into the York Mind shop regularly to be the first to see the latest bargains and thrift for unique treasures.
