They’re just putting the finishing touches to a brand new shop about to open in York city centre.
Sports brand INOV8 will open its doors on High Ousegate this Saturday (16 March), creating six new jobs and filling the property vacated by Costa Coffee.
The store will sell its own brand shoes, clothing and equipment for runners, hikers and gym enthusiasts.
There will also be an in-store coffee shop, providing a base for a wide range of activities, including social runs, yoga classes, film screenings and guest speaker events.
Founded 21 years ago, INOV8 is based in the Lake District and trades in more than 50 countries worldwide. York is its second city store, coming a month after the brand opened retail doors in Sheffield.
James Nettleton, the company’s business development director, said: “We couldn’t be more excited to open our store in York.
“Ever since announcing our arrival in the city, we have had an incredible response.
“Local runners, clubs, gyms and community organisations have reached out with so many inspiring ideas for collaborations and partnerships.
“This confirms what we always thought about York. It’s a place teeming with people who share our passions for running, the outdoors and training.
“We hope people will use the store not just as a shop, but also as a gathering place before and after runs, hikes and gym sessions. All are welcome and excellent coffee awaits.”
Fun run
To celebrate the opening, a social group 10km run is being organised from the store on Sunday 24 March, with all invited.
Meeting at 10am, the group will be joined on the run by INOV8s record-breaking trail runner Jack Scott, who’ll then share his secrets to success in a post-run Q&A over coffee and snacks.
In January, Scott won the 268-mile Spine Race ultramarathon along the Pennine Way, from Edale, Derbyshire, to Kirk Yetholm, in the Scottish Borders. He did so in 72hrs 55mins, breaking the course record by 10 hours.
The INOV8 York store will open seven days a week (9am-5pm, with shorter hours of 10am-4pm on Sundays).
