If you love your food and you love York, we have some good news.
A new restaurant is planning to open on the city’s most famous street.
Omoni House, a Korean restaurant, is ‘coming soon’ to Shambles.
It is due to open in the former home of Italian restaurant Sapori.
The team behind Omoni House, including Szymon Olszewski, have a good pedigree when it comes to York and Asian cuisine.
They’ve run a Korean takeaway on Clarence Street as well as the Little Asia restaurant, first on Lawrence Street and then on Walmgate.
Omoni House’s new home, number 33 Shambles, has a long tradition of serving up delicious food. It was home for nearly 15 years to Italian restaurant L’Antica Locanda.
It closed in the summer of 2019, and was succeeded by Sapori York, owned by Francesca Pischedda, who had moved from Sardinia to York five years previously.
After his stint on Shambles, he moved on to run Al Volo, a modern restaurant based at Rufforth Airfield.
