York shoppers will soon have a chance to put their feet up over brunch, lunch or afternoon tea at a new restaurant.
Mama Doreen’s Emporium is to open at the Vangarde Shopping Park in November.
It launched in 2009 in Harrogate, and the family-run business will open their second branch in the unit previously occupied by the Confessional restaurant.
Jessica Wyatt, co-owner of Mama Doreen’s alongside her mother, Justine, said: “Not only will we be offering brunch, lunch and our famous afternoon teas every day, we’ll have fresh, seasonal variations, including our popular Winter Wonderland afternoon tea, which will be available from November through to the end of December – it’s the perfect Christmas treat for all ages.”
She said “a visit to the Emporium is perfect for all occasions, including birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers and hen parties”.

The business began making cupcakes for markets 12 years ago.
“We never dreamed that they would prove to be so popular that we’d be opening up a second restaurant,” Jessica added.
“We are proud to be an independent, family-run Yorkshire business and we can’t wait for visitors to Vangarde to try our tasty treats.”

They are now recruiting for the new restaurant – job enquiries should go to [email protected].

York City FC had enquired about turning the Confessional into a social club and bar for fans, before finding it had been taken.
Co-chair Matt Uggla has since said the club is looking at other units in and around the stadium.
