Plans to open a new chicken restaurant in York have been postponed.
Last month, we revealed that Frango Eduardo was planning to open its first permanent restaurant in York.
Offering a taste of Portugal with piri piri chicken and more, Frango Eduardo was a hit when it opened in Spark:York a year ago.
Ted Hustler and partner Emma Hargreaves were planning to expand, by turning the former Cast Iron Bath Company shop at number 9 Colliergate into their first proper restaurant.
Ted told YorkMix that the large former store “fits nicely with our vision – somewhere nice and airy, fairly rustic and simple”.
But that plan has now been scuppered – as the owners have agreed to let it instead to Up And Running.
That’s the specialist footwear and accessories store for runners, currently based on Fossgate.
A sign on the window says the shop refit is now underway.
Ted said that the landlord of 29 Colliergate decided to go with Up And Running rather than wait until his licence and planning application for change of use came through.
However, it’s not the end of the Frango Eduardo dream… Ted has an eye on another venue, to be revealed, with an opening in mid-April.
