York could soon have a new pond.
The residents of Upper Poppleton have been invited to vote on a proposal to create a pond on Chantry Green.
It has been proposed by the parish council, and villagers have until 17 April to cast their vote.

The parish council says they “have been trying to think of ways of improving Chantry Green for some time, as we should be making better use of this well positioned piece of land”.
They were inspired by the duck pond on the green in Wigginton.
“We liked this Green as it is clearly well used and we felt that with the adjacent road we could have a similar look on our Chantry Green.
“This is a substantial project for the Parish Council and if we were to take it on then we need to make sure the residents of the village agree with the idea and would be prepared to help in the building and maintenance of this feature.”
