A well-known York pub is planning a makeover.
Proposals are in to give The Black Bull on Hull Road a new look.
The large pub and hotel currently has a blue facade, but a dramatic black look is planned for the exterior.

Pub owner Mitchell & Butlers has applied to City of York Council for permission to ‘refurbish the existing fascia, corex & totem sign and signwrite a Sizzling Logo’.
The Black Bull operates under its ‘Sizzling Pubs’ brand. It is “proud to help fundraise for charities and offer our function area free of charge to locals and groups,” the website says.
“So whether you’re up for a party, watching sport with mates, meeting with friends and family for great value pub food & drink or just relaxing and taking the time to unwind, The Black Bull, York is the pub putting the sizzle in York.”

The pub last underwent a refurbishment in 2017, when the previously whitewashed exterior was turned to its current shade of blue.
Back then it closed for several weeks for the £200K investment. We don’t have any details yet about whether it will be shut again if the planning permission is granted.
