A famous US fast food chain has confirmed it will open in York in the coming months.
As YorkMix revealed in September, Wendy’s is planning to convert the former TM Lewin shop on St Sampson’s Square into a burger joint.
And it could be the 50th Wendy’s to open in the UK.
The York venue is one of five opening soon in the UK as the company embarks on a quick expansion strategy.
Michael Clarke, Europe MD for The Wendy’s Company said: “This year, we will focus on accelerating our expansion efforts so more people across the UK can enjoy Wendy’s craveable menu and exceptional customer hospitality.
“We have a solid foundation in the market and believe we are well-positioned to accelerate our growth trajectory even further.”
No date has yet been set for when the York branch will start trading, but a Wendy’s spokesperson said it would create between 30 and 40 jobs.
Wendy’s will serve brand favourites like the ‘Baconator’ – a burger with crispy Applewood smoked bacon – the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and creamy Frosty dessert.

It will also offers a range of items tailored to Brits, including the Avocado Chicken Club, multiple variations of Chicken Wraps, and chicken nuggets.
New treats on the menu include halloumi fries and cinnamon mini doughnuts, dusted in sugar and cinnamon.
There will also be a separate breakfast menu.
