Health bosses have submitted plans to create a new car park at York Hospital.
York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust wants to construct a 15,600 sq ft temporary staff car park on its existing site.
The aim is to alleviate staff car parking problems. About 180 bays for hospital workers have been lost due to construction works to extend the emergency and intensive care departments.
It will be located to the south of an existing temporary car park on Bootham Park Court and on the site of the now demolished Bootham Park Court residences.
The new car park would create 57 spaces.
Access to the car park will be via the road to Bootham Park Hospital and the entry/exit of the existing temporary car park. This means no new roads will need to be created.
It would help “to prevent staff from having the need to park within the multi-storey car park, which directly effects the patient and visitor parking”.
