The new café bar opening at Vangarde Shopping Park has revealed its opening date and a change of name.
YorkMix revealed in December that the new venue was coming.
Now we know it will be called the Vallado Lounge, and will open on Wednesday, 1 May.
It will be housed in an empty unit at the LNER Community Stadium, next to both the Hollywood Bowl and the Cineworld cinema.
“The builders are currently hard at work finishing off Vallado Lounge,” says the parent company, Bristol-based hospitality group Loungers UK.
“Our informal café-bar will be open all day, every day for long, lazy breakfasts, sociable brunches and lunches, and relaxed dinners and drinks.
“We can’t wait to meet you!”
Planning documents submitted by the firm originally said the café bar would be called Vichingo Lounge, which means Viking in Italian.
Vallado means fencing in Spanish, or a military defensive wall, which gives it the link to York.
Its opening times will be Sunday to Thursday 9am – 11pm; Friday to Saturday 9am – 12am.
