A new business has opened in York – and it’s launching its first community event this Saturday.
Insurance broker Howden is up and running on Feasegate/
Its launch event, taking place on tomorrow (Saturday) will include hamper giveaways, cupcakes for all, face painting and more family fun.

The new branch, which now occupies the long-empty section of the former BHS store on Feasegate, opened last month – and it’s been a long time coming, as it was first revealed to be coming to the city in March 2024.
Based in Oxfordshire, the insurance brokers has more than 100 branches across the country.
The York branch opening follows a landmark year for Howden, having been named Broker of the Decade in 2024 and crowned Insurance Company of the Year at the City AM Awards in 2025.
Branch manager George Clark said, “Howden’s people-first ethos means that caring for clients and the local community remains at the heart of what we do.
“We’re excited that our first event will be joining in the city’s Pride celebrations on Saturday 7 June, where we’ll be out in the community with cupcakes, pick ‘n’ mix from Sweet For My Sweet, a face painter, giveaways and more.
“We’re looking forward to celebrating with everyone!”
