A new B&M store has opened at Clifton Moor in York, fewer than 17 weeks after the last one was destroyed by fire.
And it was the firefighters who were guests of honour at the opening ceremony on Thursday (7 February).
Staff at the new store were asked to nominate a local charity they think truly deserves some VIP treatment for the work they do for the local community.
They chose the team from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, who took centre stage to officially unveil the new B&M, alongside Lord Mayor of York Cllr Keith Orrell, and the Lady Mayoress, Judith Orrell.
The firefighters helped control and put out the fire that broke out over the road at the previous B&M store in October, so the store team wanted to thank them for all their help.
Really busy start
In addition to opening the new store, the team also received £250 from the store to go towards the Fire Fighters Charity.
Store manager Leanne North said:

The new store has been really busy since the doors first opened on Thursday and feedback from customers has been great so far.
A huge thank you to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue who helped us open the store. We hope that our donation can help them continue the outstanding work they do for the local community.
The former Poundworld store has undergone an internal and external refurbishment programme and created 20 new jobs.
B&M sells a wide variety of branded products including toys, food & drink, home ware, pet products, health & beauty and seasonal range.
