A new bar has revealed it’s to open in York.
A Katie O’Brien’s Irish Tavern, one of a small chain of pubs inspired by the iconic pubs of Dublin’s Temple Bar, is preparing to open in the city centre.
The news was broken on social media. A message says: “The renovation has started. The live acts are prepping.

“The Guinness is ordered. Location release pending.
“Katie’s Irish Tavern is coming sooner than you’d think!”
No location has yet been confirmed for the new bar. The teaser video (above) showcases many well-know York locations, including Shambles.
Although the sign says “Est 1921”, Katie O’Brien’s opened its first location in Durham in 2023.
It now operates seven pubs, ranging from Leicester in the south to Newcastle in the north.
The company opened its first North Yorkshire pub in Harrogate last December.
A company spokesperson says: “Katie O’Brien’s offers a warm Irish welcome, live music and creamy Guinness in a cosy and traditional pub setting.
“Get ready to be charmed by singers and bands from Ireland, as well as the best acts from across the region performing live on stage.
“Katie’s will also be showing televised sports, for all the sport fanatics out there.”
It is the second Irish themed bar to open in York in recent months. The Dubliner York opened in the former Maltings free house in Tanners Moat in December.
