‘My whole clinic was under 40s with Covid symptoms’: York GP raises fresh concerns
A York GP has raised concerns about the number of younger people getting Covid-19 in the city.
Dr Abbie Brooks, a GP partner at Priory Medical Group, said everyone in her Covid clinic this week was under the age of 40 with new symptoms.
In a video shared online, Dr Brook said: “We’re still seeing the effects of Covid, long Covid in our clinics.
“Demand is like nothing I’ve ever seen before in general practice. But yesterday afternoon, my my whole clinic was under 40s, and they were all people that had new symptoms.
“One or two of them had got tested – the rest I encouraged to go get tested.”
Dr Brooks said some were ‘quite unwell’ with Covid-19.
“While it’s encouraging to see that hospital admission isn’t soaring like it did earlier in the year, we’re definitely getting discharge letters of patients that have been quite unwell, whether that be on the ward or in intensive care, so we’re definitely seeing the after effect of that.”
