Music latest: Two York bands to get national radio play
Two York bands are to be featured on national radio this weekend.
Gun To The Floor, from the debut album by The Bronze, will be highlighted by Tom Robinson on his BBC 6 Music show on Saturday (January 10, 9pm).
The Bronze is Holly Taymar and Chris Bilton, who have been playing together since 2009. Their music has gradually evolved into what they describe as “a true meeting of styles, fusing electronic influences and troubadour sensibilities to reveal a sound reminiscent of modern adult contemporary acts such as The Sundays, K’s Choice and The Civil Wars”.
Here is the track.
The Bronze have to thank BBC Radio York’s Jericho Keys for bringing them to a wider audience.
Jericho, presenter of BBC Introducing, has championed Holly and Chris since they adopted the name The Bronze and released their debut album in the autumn of last year.
It’s another duo, but an altogether different proposition from The Bronze. Broken Skulls are brothers Elliot and Dan Sawyer who describe their work as “groovy, messy rock ‘n’ roll”.
You can judge for yourself here…
Tom Robinson will feature them on the same show this weekend.
He will also be playing Harrogate newcomers, The Violets.
