York music festival Live for St Leonard’s has broken all its previous fundraising records, it’s been announced today (Thursday).
Live for St Leonard’s formed part of the York Food Festival, which took place last month. It has been revealed today by the York Bid that this year’s event raised £6,180 for St Leonard’s Hospice – breaking all its previous records.
It brings the total raised for St Leonard’s Hospice to an incredible £20,316, since the homegrown music festival’s first inception in 2021.
The free music festival brought nine days of live music to Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square, and was hosted every night by YorkMix.
Simon Pattinson, radio presenter at YorkMix, said; “It was a brilliant week for live music in York, showcasing the incredible musical talent we have in our fine city. There was a great atmosphere every night, raising money for a fantastic charity that we all know will make a huge difference.”
This year’s line-up included The Supermodels, Jess Gardham, Attention Freaks, Gary Stewart, Bang Bang Bang, The Echoes, Miles & The Chain Gang, In Pictures, Harry Arnison Band, Tri-Starrs, Paisley Flames, The Rusty Pegs, Embers, Accidently Acoustic and many more.
The musicians who performed also donated £450 to the fundraiser.
Annie Keogh, community development fundraiser at St Leonard’s said, “We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community during the nine nights of Live for St Leonard’s in York and for raising such an amazing total for the Hospice.
“A special thank you goes to The York BID, YorkMix, and City Cruises for organising, hosting, and sponsoring the event, and to all the talented musicians who performed. Every penny raised helps us ensure that local patients and their families receive the care and support they need when they need it most.”
St Leonard’s Hospice is an independent charity that provides care and support for local people with life limiting illnesses. Care is provided free of charge to patients and their families – making fundraising events like this essential to the continuation of their work.
Chris Bush, business Manager at the York Bid, who also performed at Live for St Leonard’s with The Y Street Band, added; “We were thrilled to see such fantastic audience numbers at this year’s event and to hit the milestone of £20,000 raised for St Leonard’s Hospice over four years.”
For anyone who would like to add to the fundraising total, a JustGiving page is also open.
