A tearoom near York is celebrating their 21st birthday on Yorkshire Day.
Doyly’s Tearoom in Bolton Percy, near York, are marking the milestone birthday today (Thursday) – which falls on the celebratory Yorkshire Day.
The family-run tearoom first opened on Yorkshire Day back in 2003 by Vicky Houseman, right in the family farmhouse with the aim to diversify the farm.
Vicky’s daughters Ruth and Anne also help run the tearoom, with the name coming from their grandmother who’s middle name is D’Oyly.
The tearoom has “gone from strength to strength”, and in 2019 the business expanded into the converted cow shed on the farm.
“We pride ourselves on our traditional home baking using Yorkshire recipes from family members over the years,” said Ruth of Doyly’s Tearoom.
The menu includes breakfast and lunch options, as well as afternoon tea and treats like freshly baked scones and home-baked cake.
For breakfast there are tempting dishes such as the breakfast stack (£12.50, also has a veggie option), eggs Benedict (£11.95), and pancakes (from £7.75). For lunch you’ll be spoilt for choice with jacket potatoes (from £9.95), platters (from £14.95), sandwiches (from £8.95), toasties (£9.95), and other hot options.
For a home-grown Yorkshire business that is beloved amongst the local community, it seems only right that it all started on Yorkshire Day 21 years ago.
“We are celebrating our 21st birthday today on Yorkshire Day in glorious sunshine and look forward to the next 21 years!”
The tearoom is open Wednesday to Saturday, from 10am to 3pm.
