Two raiders armed with a baseball bat staged an audacious daylight raid on a bank security van in York on Monday afternoon (July 6).
The robbers struck at about 2pm outside Halifax bank on the corner of Front Street and York Road, Acomb.
One of the men threatened a G4S security guard outside the bank after threatening him with the baseball bat.
The robber grabbed a cash box from the guard then fled on the back of a motorbike ridden by an accomplice.

Police say the motorcycle was abandoned on Newlands Lane in Hessay. The stolen cash box was discovered after being discarded in Acomb.
The robbery took place in front of shocked shoppers.
Witnesses told the York Press that a couple of people tried to stop the robbers.
An elderly man tried to trip them while another man kicked the baseball bat out of the robber’s hand.
The security guard was unhurt. G4S are working to help police with their inquiries.
