Police are investigating after an arson attack in a children’s play area.
Emergency services were called to the Bell Farm Adventure Playground off Huntington Road at 8.27pm last night.
A motorbike was torched in the park.
Incident location
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The York crew attended a motorcycle set alight deliberately in a children’s play park.
“The crew extinguished the fire using a hose reel.
“The incident was left in the hands of police.”
It was one of at least three deliberate fires last night:
- At 6.27pm in Acomb firefighters put out a pile of grass cuttings set alight by youths.
- At 9.31pm, also in Acomb, a crew went to reports of a second pile of grass cuttings on fire and on arrival confirmed two separate fires. Both fires are believed to have been started deliberately.
