Ghosts are taking over one of York’s best loved parks next month – and people can’t wait!
Ghosts After Dark will see all the 45 ghosts from around the city gather in Museum Gardens for four spooky nights.
They’ll be joined by one special extra ghost – and six storytellers spinning supernatural yarns, as the gardens come to live with dynamic lighting, smoke and sound.

It’s the first such event held by organisers the York BID (Business Improvement District) – and it is proving a hit.
Carl Alsop, operations manager at York BID, said: “We’ve actually been overwhelmed with the amount of support for this project and how many tickets have been sold.
“For that reason, we’ve released more tickets for all slots.”
See the panel for ticket details.
The 45 ghosts are all the ones now dotted around the city for the popular Ghosts In The Gardens trail, first launched in 2021.
They remain in place until 5 November. Then Ghosts After Dark opens on 7 November, for four nights.
As part of the experience, visitors to Ghosts After Dark will be regaled with strange and spooky stories in six different corners of York Museum Gardens – see the video for exactly where.
Carl said it was the BID’s first ticketed event: “We’ve done that to allow the event to exist, basically.
“Without the ticketing element, we wouldn’t be able to do it, but we kept his costs as low as possible.”
