Thousands of chickens died in a huge blaze at a poultry unit in North Yorkshire this afternoon (Saturday).
Firefighters were called to the fire at Upper Dunsforth near Boroughbridge at 3.37pm.
Crews from Boroughbridge, Knaresborough, Ripon and Harrogate tackled the flames that engulfed a 250ft shed.
Station Manager Tony Walker tweeted at 7pm this evening: “Crews from Knarsborough, Ripon & Boroughbridge are currently dealing with a fire at a commercial premises near Upper Dunsforth.
“No injuries reported but sadly over 32,000 chickens have perished in the blaze. Significant damage to the building.”
An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
