More details have been revealed about sports and outdoors shop Decathlon, opening at Monks Cross.
As previously reported by YorkMix, Decathlon will be opening in the empty Debenhams unit.
Now it’s been revealed that the store will open later this year, during the autumn period. A specific date for the official opening is yet to be confirmed.
Decathlon aims to make sport more accessible, and provides equipment, clothing and accessories for more than 70 different sports.
Ross Farrington of Decathlon said: “This is a very exciting moment in the growth of Decathlon’s physical presence here in the UK.
“York is a sporty, active city, ideally located in close proximity to the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales.
“We’re looking forward to helping the people of Yorkshire get more active through whatever sport or activity they want to try next!”
Katherine Sharp, centre manager of Monks Cross Shopping Park, added: “We’re incredibly excited that Decathlon has chosen Monks Cross for their new store and we cannot wait for the opening later in the year.
“A fantastic store to be added to our growing tenant list this year and a perfect addition for our customers with a passion for sport and the outdoors.”
