More changes on key York shopping street as store to get a new name and a rebrand
Here’s the latest change coming to the key shopping street of Davygate in York.
Whitewall Galleries is to get a new name and a new look.
It will be rebranded Clarendon Fine Art.
A new shopfront sign and projecting sign is coming, according to planning documents.
Both the Whitewall Galleries and Clarendon Fine Art brands are owned by DeMontfort Fine Art Ltd.
Clarendon’s first gallery opened in London in 2010, four years after the first Whitewall gallery. Clarendon “showcases an award-winning portfolio of contemporary classics, modern masterpieces, statement street art and stunning sculpture”.
Whitewall Galleries has been on Davygate for at least ten years, opening in the building that was once home to Newcastle Building Society.
Found at 9 Davygate, the gallery is next to the former Space NK and Accessorize shops.
They have closed and are being converted into a Beaverbrooks jewellers and TAG Heuer watch shop.
Meanwhile, the long empty Debenhams store opposite is being transformed into Mappin & Webb jewellers.
