York’s summer benches have started to appear in locations across the city centre.
The colourful seating areas are being installed again by the York BID (Business Improvement District).
One of the most picturesque spots is Exhibition Square, where people can relax amid colourful planters, with views of the Minster, the walls, Bootham Bar and York Art Gallery.
Altogether 72 benches are being added across the city this year.
For the first time this summer, seating is being placed in Tower Gardens, a great spot to watch the river roll by.
Also new for this year, two of the benches are made entirely from recycled plastic. You can find them near the Explore York central library.
And more seating will soon be added to College Green next to York Minster, once its transformation into a pocket park is completed.
So take the weight off!
