York Open Studios will be bringing together more than 150 artists in and around the city – meet three new artists participating for the first time this year.
The annual event allows artists to welcome visitors into their work spaces to show and sell their art – whether it be traditional and contemporary painting and print, illustration, drawing and ceramics, glass and sculpture, jewellery, textiles, mixed media or photography.
York Open Studios 2024 will take place on Saturdays and Sundays 13-14 April and 20-21 April.
Ceramist Patricia Qua, an Argentinian born Korean artist, will be bringing her love of vibrant colours and background in print and graphics to her one-off porcelain or stoneware ceramics.
Oil painter Michael Hasan Reda, originally from Birmingham, brings to life the natural and built environments with expressive brushstrokes, and jeweller Hannah Weston will be showing off her carefully crafted creations in silver and gold.
Christine Storrs, committee chair says: “I know all the artists have been working incredibly hard to ensure they have the best of their collections available to see and buy, and the best way to showcase their skills to their visitors. It’s a sneak peek behind the scenes to marvel at their practices and expertise, as well as a chance to start your own collection.
“We are blessed with regular artists and new to bring the best of art to our weekends. York is the best place to enjoy spring in the city with a good dose of art to warm the heart.”
