Determination, willpower, energy drinks and Netflix – these were all required by our hero of the day, David Britton.
David has queued all night to be first in the queue at brand new fast food restaurant Tim Hortons in Selby.
And he was amply rewarded for his epic effort – with free drinks at the outlet for a whole year.
Tim Horntons opened at 7am today (Thursday) and had promised the first person in the indoor queue and drive thru queue will both win free drinks for a year.
They are also giving away free breakfast meals for the first 100 guests.
David saw the promotion on the Save Our Selby Facebook group and decided to go for it.
He got in the queue at 6pm last night, to start a 13-hour vigil to claim the prize.

David told Ben Fry and Laura Castle on the YorkMix Radio breakfast show that he took blankets, energy drinks and a takeaway from rival fast food restaurant McDonald’s to keep him going.
Ben asked: “At what time between 6pm and this morning did it actually start to feel like a stupid idea?” David replied: “Ten past six.”
What was Selby like in the wee small hours? “It was a bit of quiet to be honest. But I had Netflix, which wasn’t too bad.”
He watched Me Time, the movie with Kevin Hart, and gave it three stars.
David said the Tim Hortons staff had been looking out for him. “About 11 o’clock some people came in and said ‘Oh, congratulations. You’ve been here early’ and all that.
“Then about five o’clock they came to set up stuff and then got me a hot chocolate to see me through.”
When the drive-thru opened he ordered a breakfast wrap with bacon and an orange juice, which he would ‘definitely’ order again.
He has now won two free drinks a day for a year. And he can get some sleep – planning ahead, he booked today as a holiday.
Ben told him: “David Britton, you have done Britain proud. Congratulations on being the first person through the Tim Hortons drive thru in Selby.
“And next time you there, feel free to get us a latte, won’t you?”
